Cancer Screening, Catch it Early: Your Health is Your Wealth

Description

In Canada, 2 in 5 (40%) of individuals are expected to develop cancer in their lifetime (Canadian Cancer Society, 2021). Even young adults, in their 20’s and 30’s, can develop cancer. Prevention is the key, and understanding risk factors, symptoms, and engaging in early detection is critical. Healthy choices and informed decisions can further reduce the risk of developing cancer.

This webinar will focus on cervical, colon, and breast cancer. What is the role of the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine in women AND men to prevent not just cervical, but other cancers as well? What can you do to lower your risk for breast and colon cancer? What are the symptoms, risk factors and recommendations for screening? How can staying positive have an impact on your well-being?

Join experts, Areesha Alimohammad, oncology nurse, Dr. Alysha Nensi, obstetrician/gynecologist, Dr. Usmaan Hameed, surgical oncologist, and Dr. Nimira Alimohammed, medical oncologist, to learn about risk reduction, taking proactive steps for cancer screening, and how an attitude of positivity can improve your health. We will also be joined by two special guests, Shirin Jiwa, breast cancer survivor, and her daughter, Shameen Mawji, both of whom will candidly share their lived experiences.
