Fraud Prevention

As March is Fraud Prevention Month, we would like to address this topic with the Jamat. It has been cited by the RCMP Commercial Crime Branch that fraud-related offences are estimated at 10 to 30 billion dollars annually.

The Jamat is encouraged to be vigilant and cautious to reduce the chances of being a victim of fraud. Most recently, an article published by the Montreal Gazette warns the public of a Canada Revenue Agency email scam making its way to individuals across Canada about a possible tax return. If you or others you know are receiving unsolicited emails such as this one, please do not respond and delete the email immediately.

For more information, refer to the RCMP website this month. You will find tips on keeping yourself safe from scams, including identity theft, phishing and credit and debit card fraud.
