Prince Rahim's Working Visit to Pakistan
Prince Rahim on a five-day visit to the country to meet with government, Jamati and institutional leaders, and to visit new AKDN projects in Gilgit-Baltistan. Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, conferred the Nishan-i-Pakistan on Prince Rahim for his “untiring efforts to improving the quality of life of peoples in resource-constrained regions of Asia and Africa”. As the nation’s highest civilian award, the Nishan-i-Pakistan recognises individuals who have rendered services of the highest distinction to the country.
Highlights of the visit:
On June 8, Prince Rahim inaugurated a software technology park, launched the development of two solar power plants, and visited a restored fort and a hotel.
On June 9, HBL Microfinance Bank inaugurated its new Regional Headquarters for Gilgit-Baltistan. At the ceremony, Prince Rahim Aga Khan noted, “It is a major step towards AKDN’s goal of achieving net zero by 2030.”
