Ismaili CIVIC

Ismaili CIVIC is an initiative launched to mark Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Diamond Jubilee and Canada’s 150th anniversary since Confederation. It launched on July 1st, 2017 as a commitment by Canadian Ismailis to give one million volunteer service hours to improve quality of life in Canada. The one-million-hour commitment was completed by March 21st, 2018.

In his 2014 speech to the Canadian Parliament, Mawlana Hazar Imam spoke about voluntary service in Canada.

"I have been impressed by recent studies showing the activity of voluntary institutions and not-for-profit organizations in Canada to be among the highest in the world. This Canadian spirit resonates with a cherished principle in Shia Ismaili culture — the importance of contributing one’s individual energies on a voluntary basis to improving the lives of others."

Ismaili CIVIC  is a legacy initiative representing the continuous commitment Canadian Ismailis have to adding value to the country in which we live. The ethic of giving of one's time and knowledge to help others is a long standing tradition in Islam. Ismaili CIVIC is for all members of the Jamat and your family and friends.
