Fast Trak Registration 2022 | The Ismaili Canada
FAST TRAK REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR 2022!

FastTrak is a unique mentorship program designed for youth (aged 14-25) in our jamat. Through the realms of career/education, skills development, and general mentorship, this digital mentorship program enables mentees an opportunity to be paired with a mentor who has experiences within the specific field of interest to aid in the navigation of career and educational conversations and challenges. FastTrak intends to offer skills development opportunities and mentees, a way to connect with each other, alongside the mentorship piece to provide guidance, support, and expertise through a virtual setting.

Objectives:

  • Support mentees in our jamat in building relationships and gaining knowledge on their educational and career needs.
  • Enable the mentor and mentee to formulate a meaningful relationship and to set and be accountable for any personal goals.
  • Provide individuals a resource for career and educational guidance, alongside other matters of mentorship, including but not limited to personal development and community engagement.
  • Create a platform for mentees to connect and interact with other participants in the FastTrak program through a variety of webinars and skills development workshops (resume building, university/college applications, etc.)

Minimum time commitment:

  • Meet twice a month for at least one hour (minimum).
  • One year term for both mentor and mentee (beginning from your acceptance into the program).

Program overview:

  • Needs identification: Prospective mentees recognize their potential educational or career goals and are willing to work with someone to further explore these and make movement towards goals.
  • On-boarding and training: Mentors are screened (must complete a criminal record and vulnerable sectors check to be paired with a mentee under 18) and provided with virtual trainings to be completed to successfully fulfill their role in this program.
  • First meeting: Mentor and mentee meet initially to learn about each other with their case worker, develop goals for the upcoming year, set up future connects, provide any relevant resources.
  • Support: Mentees and mentors meet twice a month, as well as engage with case workers and attend development workshops and group mentorship initiatives, as needed.
  • Final meeting: Mentors and mentees ensure amicable closure of mentoring relationship at the one- year mark, celebrate successes and achievements since the beginning of the pairing. Mentors ensure that their mentee has a clear path forward in the short-term for outstanding goals, and supported throughout including additional in-formal touchpoints, if desired.
