Employment Opportunity: Finance Manager, Generations, Calgary

Generations: Multi-Generational Housing and Community Centre is a supportive living and long-term care centre housing 120 seniors. It also has an early childhood development centre and day programs and facilities for non-resident seniors.

A Finance Manager is needed to lead and manage all financial transactions for the Centre. The Manager will work closely with the site manager and the volunteer accounting team. As an organization that is at the forefront of leading trends in healthy and active aging, this is an exciting opportunity to build a solid foundation for the applicant.

The Finance Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting and budgeting functions for the organization. They will be managing financial processes, as well as overseeing and executing accounting activities. To be successful in this role, candidates need previous experience with financial reporting, bookkeeping, and accounting systems. The Finance Manager needs to be a self-starter, who can take ownership and improve existing finance processes, management reporting, and set-up systems effectively.

BC Rental Housing Survey

The Council for Canada requests your assistance in completing the BC Rental Housing Survey. The survey is being conducted in consideration of a potential rental housing development at Richards and Drake in downtown Vancouver, which will include prayer facilities, a cultural and educational space.  

The development will consist of:

a. Market rate rental units, and

b. Social housing rental units based on household income eligibility. For 2019, the household income eligibility thresholds for social housing in Vancouver were:

             i. Under $51,500 for Studio / 1 bedroom unit;

             ii. Under $63,000 for a 2 bedroom unit, and;

             iii. Under $73,500 for a 3 bedroom unit.

The survey should take approximately 5-7 minutes to complete.

How many members in each age category are in your household, including yourself? (enter a number for each category below)

The proposed development at Richards and Drake will consist of:

  • Market rate rental units, and
  • Social housing rental units based on household income eligibility.

 

For the units available at market rental rates, the monthly rent for the units are as follows:

  • Studio of ~350 sq. ft. (for rent at $1800-$2000 per month)
  • 1 bedroom of ~525 sq. ft. (for rent at $1800-$2500 per month)
  • 2 bedroom of ~725 sq. ft. (for rent at $2800-$3500 per month)
  • 3 bedroom of ~925 sq. ft. (for rent at $3500-$4300 per month)

 

For the social housing rental units (available based on household income eligibility), the monthly rent for the units are as follows:

  • Studio of ~350 sq. ft. (for rent at $975-$1375 per month)
  • 1 bedroom of ~525 sq. ft. (for rent at $975-$1675 per month)
  • 2 bedroom of ~725 sq. ft. (for rent at $1425-$2550 per month)
  • 3 bedroom of ~925 sq. ft. (for rent at $1700-$3300 per month)
