Illume 2023: Opening Ceremonies

Description

Lights, camera, action! Get ready for an unforgettable extravaganza as we kick off the inaugural Illume Arts and Sports Festival in Hamilton.

On Friday, August 4, the spotlight will shine on the thousands of artists, athletes and coaches who have travelled from far and wide to represent their region at Illume 2023. Join us for a night of connection and inspiration celebrating excellence in arts and sports, as one united Canadian Jamat.

The evening will start with the stirring beats of DJ EPIK, followed by a rousing performance by the legendary Regina Ismaili Pipe Band. Then watch our talented artist and athlete delegation parade in, capped off by the illumination of the ceremonial torch. All in preparation for a rousing musical performance that will have your feet moving and head swaying to the tunes of internationally-renown Jishan Ali Thobani.

Don't miss out on the electric energy as we bring together arts, sports, culture and community. Hosted by Sportsnet's Faizal Khamisa, the Illume Opening Ceremonies will ignite your spirit and kickstart an unforgettable 4-day weekend. And to close out the night, gaze in wonder at a mesmerizing drone light show set against the starry sky.

Did we mention this epic event is free to attend? So bring your friends, bring your family, and get ready for a celebration to remember at Illume 2023!

Can't join us in person? Watch the livestream online.

*Spectators are encouraged to wear a white top and athletes/artists are requested to wear a red top. Doors open at 7:30pm.
