The NEW Global Encounters
In his Diamond Jubilee year, Mawlana Hazar Imam established Global Encounters, bringing together existing international programmes under one new institution. Today, we are pleased to formally introduce Global Encounters to the Jamat.
Global Encounters strives to elevate the Jamat’s sense of unity by way of transformational experiences that leverage and advance our shared identity, global presence, and individual talent and spirit, uplifting the communities in which we live.
Global Encounters is the home for Jubilee Arts, Jubilee Games, the Global Encounters Camps, Heritage Journeys, a new Talent Institute and many more initiatives to come. These flagship programmes will unite the Jamat, bringing us together across borders, through shared experiences and lived pluralism. Global Encounters will also enable Ismailis to embrace our identity, preserve and shape our cultures and shared heritage, and will foster engagement in sports and arts, mobilising exceptional talent to aspire for greatness.
Reflecting on the words of Mawlana Hazar Imam during an address to the Portuguese Parliament in Lisbon, Portugal on July 10, 2018.
“...Closer interactions in our world will also produce wonderful new opportunities for creative cooperation, for healthy inter-dependence, for new discovery and inspiring growth. When that happens, the opportunity to engage with people who are different from us need not be seen as a burden, but rather, as a blessing”.
Global Encounters will be an institution that brings us together across boundaries, as the Jamat marches into the future.
